George Chandler, a renowned American actor, was born on June 30, 1898, in Waukegan, Illinois. He embarked on his screen journey in 1928, ultimately appearing in over 140 films, often in supporting roles. One of his most notable roles was Uncle Petrie Martin on the popular television series Lassie.
Prior to his successful film career, Chandler had a vaudeville act, "George Chandler, the Musical Nut", which showcased his comedic talents and violin skills. During World War I, he served in the United States Army.
Throughout his extensive career, Chandler appeared in numerous films from 1928 to 1979, as well as television series, starting from 1951. His versatility as an actor led to a wide range of roles across both mediums.
