A group of friends, Slip, Sach, Whitey, Butch, and Chuck, are arrested and jailed for a warehouse robbery. Their lawyer, Gabe Moreno, gets them released on bail. While in prison, Slip and Sach discover that two notorious gangsters, Pretty Boy Gleason and Benny the Blood, are scheduled to be imprisoned, but they receive a last-minute stay of sentence. The duo decides to pose as the gangsters to learn who is sending out robbery instructions via short-wave radio.
