The film tells the story of Douglas 'Wrong Way' Corrigan's historic 1938 flight, in which he starred. On July 17, 1938, Corrigan prepared his plane for a flight, loading 320 gallons of gasoline, enough for 40 hours of flying.

The 1938 flight of Douglas "Wrong Way" Corrigan, starring as himself, chronicled his infamous flight from Floyd Bennett Field to Baldonnel, near Dublin, Ireland.
