In the aftermath of the Civil War, a government agent, also known as The Durango Kid, is tasked with tracking down a gang disrupting the construction of telegraph lines in the West. With only a wanted poster as his lead, he sets out to uncover the truth, only to be ambushed and left for dead. His rescue by a mysterious figure, Smiley, leads him to a trading post run by Miller, who is revealed to be the target of the government's pursuit, but with a twist: Miller is innocent, and the real culprit is Sloper.
