Sylvia Pasquel, a renowned Mexican celebrity, hails from a distinguished lineage of famous Mexicans. As the daughter of actress Silvia Pinal and actor Rafael Banquells, she was exposed to the world of entertainment from a tender age. Her parents' separation when she was just three years old, however, had a profound impact on her life. Despite this, Sylvia's fascination with the performing arts only grew stronger, and she went on to study Fine Arts.
Born into a family of artists, Sylvia's siblings are none other than the talented singer Alejandra Guzmán, Luis Enrique Guzmán, and Viridiana Alatriste, an actress who tragically passed away in 1982. Sylvia's own daughter, Stephanie Salas, is a Mexican actress and singer who has made a name for herself in the industry. Stephanie's own daughter, Michelle Salas, is the daughter of singer Luis Miguel.
Sylvia's impressive filmography boasts nearly 70 productions, including a plethora of soap operas, as well as critically acclaimed films like The Wolf's Awakening (1970),a comedy directed by René Cardona Jr., and the Mexican cinema classics El Santo against Blue Demon in Atlantis (1970) and Chabelo and Pepito against the monsters (1973).
In recent years, Sylvia has collaborated with acclaimed director Arturo Ripstein on several projects, including La calle de la bitterra (2015),which competed at the Venice Film Festival, Nobody Will Never Know (2018),a drama that premiered at festivals in Canada and the United States, and the comedy My Little Big Man (2018),in which she shared credits with Fernanda Castillo and Jorge Salinas.
Sylvia's most recent collaboration with Ripstein was on the film The Devil Between the Legs (2019),which premiered at the Morelia International Film Festival and earned her a nomination for the prestigious Ariel Award.
