Sergio Amidei, a renowned Italian screenwriter, made a significant impact on the country's neorealist movement. Born on October 30, 1904, in the city of Trieste, he went on to collaborate with some of Italy's most esteemed directors, including Roberto Rossellini and Vittorio De Sica.
Throughout his illustrious career, Amidei received four Academy Award nominations. In 1946, he was recognized for his work on "Rome, Open City." The following year, he received a nomination for "Shoeshine," and in 1949, he was honored for his contributions to "Paisà." His fourth and final nomination came in 1961 for his work on "Il generale della Rovere."
Sadly, Sergio Amidei passed away on April 14, 1981, in Rome.
