Reginald Cuthbert Mills was a renowned English film editor, born on September 15, 1912. He graduated from Cambridge University in 1934 with a degree in modern languages. Mills' professional life was marked by his association with the esteemed film-making partnership of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. Their fruitful collaboration began in 1946 with the critically acclaimed film A Matter of Life and Death, followed by the equally impressive Black Narcissus in 1947. Mills' exceptional work on The Red Shoes, a ballet masterpiece, earned him an Academy Award nomination in 1948.

Throughout the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, Mills edited numerous British films, including The Spanish Gardener in 1956, Joseph Losey's The Servant in 1963, and The Tales of Beatrix Potter in 1971. His work on two projects with director Franco Zeffirelli, Romeo and Juliet in 1968 and Jesus of Nazareth in 1977, earned him BAFTA nominations. Mills' impressive career concluded with his work as a consulting editor on The Champ in 1979, another collaboration with Zeffirelli.
