Hilal Nebahat Çehre is a Turkish actress, singer, and model. Born to a family of four children, she is of Laz origin on her mother's side and Georgian origin on her father's side. She lost her father at a young age and her family immigrated to Istanbul when she was five years old.
She started her education at Mimarsinan Primary School in Istanbul and dropped out of her secondary education in Fatih. She studied at the Evening Girls' Art School for five years and worked as a secretary in a knitting factory.
Çehre was elected Miss Türkiye in 1960 and represented Turkey in the World Beauty Contest. She began her acting career in 1961 with the movie Wild Gülüm, directed by Ümit Utku, and starred in 13 films between 1964 and 1968 with Yilmaz Güney.
She married Yilmaz Güney in 1967, but they divorced in 1968. She moved away from cinema during the sex movie craze in the 1970s and worked as a singer between 1970 and 1991. Her song "Büklüm Büklüm", composed by Sezen Aksu, became popular.
After her divorce, Çehre returned to stage life and continued singing until 1991. She started acting again in 2004 and became famous with the character Firdevs Yöreoglu in the TV series "Ask-i Memnu". She has received several awards, including the 42nd Golden Orange Film Festival Lifetime Honorary Award, 11th International Eskisehir Film Festival Honorary Award, and 18th Golden Boll Film Festival Lifetime Honorary Award.
