Merve Dizdar, a talented Turkish actress, was born on June 25, 1986, in Izmir, Turkey. She pursued her passion for acting by graduating from Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University School of Fine Arts with a degree in acting, followed by a master's degree in acting from Kadir Has University.
Dizdar started her career on stage by joining Semaver Company and continued to hone her craft at Craft Theatre. Her cinematic debut came in 2011 with the film Bir Ses Böler Geceyi, alongside Cem Davran. She then transitioned to television, landing recurring roles in several series, including Kavak Yelleri, Genis Aile, Bir Yastikta, Doksanlar, Cilgin Dershane Üniversite, and Bes Kardes.
Dizdar's breakthrough role came when she won the Afife Jale Theatre Best Actress Award for her performance in the play Yutmak. She then joined the casts of popular series 7 Yüz, Vatanim Sensin, and Mucize Doktor.
In 2020, Dizdar took on a leading role in the comedy film Eltilerin Savasi, alongside Uraz Kaygilaroglu, which became the 22nd most-watched movie of all time in Turkey according to Box Office Türkiye. She also starred in a musical adaptation of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, sharing the leading role with Serenay Sarikaya, Ezgi Mola, Enis Arikan, and Sükrü Ozyildiz.
Dizdar's subsequent roles included playing in the series Masumlar Apartmani, winning the Golden Butterfly Awards Best Actress, and starring as an actress and her many roles in Cem Yilmaz's Netflix spin-off comedy series Ersan Kuneri.
In 2022, she starred in Selcen Ergun's Kay ve Ayi/Snow and Bear, and in 2023, she won the Best Actress award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival for her portrayal of a teacher in Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Kuru Otlar Ustüne /About Dry Grasses, becoming the first Turkish actress to win the award.
