Mariam Al Ferjani's journey in the world of cinema began when she was studying medicine in her native Tunisia, where she met Leyla Bouzid and made the bold decision to exchange her medical studies for directing and acting courses at the prestigious Civica Scuola di Cinema Luchino Visconti in Milan, a city where her father was temporarily based at the time.
During her time at the film school, Mariam would often return to Tunisia outside of term-time to pursue her passion for filmmaking, directing and starring in experimental short films such as THE CLAIM and WINTRY.
In addition to her studies and filmmaking endeavors, Mariam is also building a reputation for her captivating photographic self-portraits, which showcase her artistic talent and versatility.
Upon graduating in 2015, Mariam established a dual residence between Tunis and Milan, where she continues to work and hone her craft.
One of her most notable roles to date is the lead role in Kaouther Ben Hania's critically acclaimed film BEAUTY AND THE DOGS, released in 2017.
Currently, Mariam is writing her first fiction feature, ALYAH, a project that showcases her growth as a filmmaker and her commitment to telling unique and compelling stories.
