Juan José Ballesta's television career began in 1997 at the tender age of eight with a role in the series 'Querido maestro', starring Imanol Arias. Two years later, he joined the cast of the television fiction series 'Compañeros'. However, it was in the year 2000 that he gained widespread popularity among the public after landing the leading role in the drama film 'El bola' by Achero Mañas, for which he won the Goya Award for Best New Actor.
In 2003, Ballesta portrayed a sick child who finds the strength to keep going in 'Planta 4ª', directed by Antonio Mercero. After a period of time away from the film industry, he returned in 2005 with '7 vírgenes', for which he won the Concha de Plata Award for Best Actor.
In 2010, the actor starred in the historical drama 'Bruc. El desafío', and then returned to television to join the cast of the historical fiction series 'Hispania', where he played the role of Paulo.
