Han Ye-seul, a renowned Korean actress, was appointed goodwill ambassador on August 31, 2009, for the third Korean Day, a prestigious event aimed at promoting Korea to Koreans residing abroad and emphasizing the significance of overseas Koreans to their homeland.
However, a controversy and media frenzy ensued during the filming of KBS2's drama series "Spy Myung-Wol". Han Ye-Seul's dissatisfaction with the working conditions led to a dramatic turn of events. On August 14, 2011, she failed to appear for filming and instead boarded a plane to the United States on August 15th. This unexpected development resulted in the postponement of episode 11, which was initially scheduled to air on August 15th, and a special "Spy Myung-Wol" highlight episode was aired in its place.
Han Ye-Seul eventually returned to Korea on August 17th, putting an end to the drama surrounding her departure, and resumed filming the remainder of the series.
