Ioannis "Giannis" Bezos was born on September 10, 1956, in Athens, Greece, and is a renowned Greek actor and director. With a career spanning decades, he is widely regarded as one of the best Greek comedic actors of all time.
Bezos's journey in the entertainment industry began when he was discovered by Thymios Karakatsanis at a performance at Smaroula theatre. He initially worked with the legendary actress Aliki Vougiouklaki on stage, and went on to have a number of TV hits, including Oi Aparadektoi, Tis Ellados ta Paidia, Ekeines Kai Ego, Flower-spread Life, Akros oikogeneiakon, Eftyhismenoi Mazi, My Daughter's Marriage, and Clinical Case.
Throughout his career, Bezos has collaborated with director Andreas Morfonios, with whom he has a close friendship, and has also directed some of the TV series he has starred in. He has also appeared in various theatrical performances, including Frogs and Lysistrata, and has made his mark in musical performances, periodical cooperations, and on records.
In March 2009, Bezos starred in the theatrical hit La Cage Aux Folles, a Jean Poiret French musical, at Pallas theatre, with direction by Stamatis Fasoulis. He is also famous for his singing, which he often demonstrates while performing.
Bezos has been married to actress Natalia Tsaliki since 1987, and they have a daughter, Iro Bezou, born in 1988. In April 2016, the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation announced that Bezos would host a new television series, "Speaking of Theatre" («Μιλώντας για θέατρο»),on ERT2, marking his first TV hosting role in some time.
