Eduardo de Oliveira Coutinho, also known as OMC, was a renowned Brazilian filmmaker and journalist, born on May 11, 1933, in São Paulo. He passed away on February 2, 2014, in Rio de Janeiro. Coutinho is widely regarded by many as the greatest documentary filmmaker in the rich history of Brazilian cinema.
Throughout his illustrious career, Coutinho's signature style was to create films that highlighted the extraordinary stories of ordinary people. His remarkable body of work includes his magnum opus, Cabra Marcado para Morrer, which cemented his position as Brazil's leading documentary filmmaker. Among his other notable and influential documentaries are Santo Forte, Edifício Master, Peões, Jogo de Cena, and As Canções.
