Adalberto Martínez Chávez, professionally known as Resortes, was a celebrated Mexican actor who left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. Renowned for his exceptional comedic talent, Resortes was also an accomplished dancer, whose impressive skills defied gravity. In fact, he is often credited with creating the "walking backwards" dance steps, which later became famously known as "The Moonwalk" and popularized by the legendary Michael Jackson.
Resortes' illustrious career spanned over six decades, during which he made his motion picture debut in 1946. He went on to participate in more than 50 Mexican films, as well as numerous television series. Some of his most notable films include El Rey de México (The King of Mexico),El Cartero del Barrio, Al Son del Mambo (To the Mambo's Rhythm),and El Futbolista Fenómeno (The Phenomenal Soccer Player). However, it was his iconic movies La Niña de la Mochila Azul (The Girl With the Blue Back Pack) and its sequel La Niña de la Mochila Azul 2 (The Girl With the Blue Back Pack 2) that cemented his status as a beloved figure among the younger generations during the 1980s.
Resortes' remarkable career was cut short when he was hospitalized with emphysema on April 3, 2003, and sadly, he passed away the following day, on April 4. Despite his untimely passing, Resortes' legacy lives on through his nephew, Alex Martinez, an international artist who continues to carry on his uncle's artistic heritage.
