In the lawless town of Dodge City, Bat Masterson is a man who doesn't seek trouble but won't back down from it. After a deadly confrontation with an army sergeant, Bat heads to Dodge City to support his brother Ed, the city marshal, in his bid for county sheriff against the corrupt Regan. Bat buys a share in a local saloon and partners with the widow Lily, but things take a turn when he becomes a candidate for sheriff and is drawn into a complicated web of relationships, including a romantic interest in Pauline, a minister's daughter.
