In 1840s Vienna, Johann Strauss II, a young violinist, faces opposition from his father, Johann Strauss I, who wants him to pursue a different career. Despite this, Johann II perseveres and eventually becomes a successful conductor. He meets and falls in love with Jetty Treffz, the mistress of Baron Tedesco, and they get married.
