In 19th-century Austria, Johann Strauss's captivating music and charming personality propel him to fame as the "Waltz-King", while he secretly pursues a romantic affair with a baron's alluring mistress.

In 1840s Vienna, Johann Strauss II, a young violinist, faces opposition from his father, Johann Strauss I, who wants him to pursue a different career. Despite this, Johann II perseveres and eventually becomes a successful conductor. He meets and falls in love with Jetty Treffz, the mistress of Baron Tedesco, and they get married.
