Billy leads a herd of cattle to Dave Crockett, halting at a pass where many herds have been previously rustled. Unbeknownst to him, two men are plotting to seize Crockett's ranch and packing plant by causing financial trouble for the family. Their initial plan is thwarted by Billy, and they then resort to poisoning the water hole.
