Billy and his friends arrive to find their friend Hanley murdered and Ed Slade acting as temporary Sheriff. The henchmen try to destroy the newspaper, prompting Billy and his friends to take up the fight. They rally behind Fuzzy's candidacy for Sheriff and later extract a confession from Slade about the killer's identity. On election day, with the newspaper in shambles once more, they strive to publish Slade's confession.
