Red Ryder and his friends Little Beaver and Buckskin Blodgett thwart a stagecoach robbery, saving Libby Brooks and her brother Gerry. However, Frenchy Beaumont, the hotel and saloon owner, seeks revenge and kills Gerry in a duel. Red joins Libby in a fight against Frenchy's gang, but fails to jail Frenchy due to lack of evidence. Red challenges Frenchy to a duel, but is badly wounded. After recovering, he seeks a rematch with Frenchy to uncover the reason behind Frenchy's uncanny ability to evade being hit.

Red Ryder, accompanied by Little Beaver and Buckskin Blodgett, foils a stagecoach heist by bandits targeting Libby Brooks, owner of the Devil's Hole newspaper, and her brother Gerry.
