The Pepper family, consisting of Mrs. Pepper and her five children, return to live with their wealthy friend Grandpa King and his grandson Jasper in a small house in Gusty Corners. However, Jasper's aunt wants to take custody of him, and Grandpa King decides to send Jasper and the Pepper children to boarding school to prevent this, keeping the reason a secret from most of them.
