A former gunslinger is hired by small ranchers to protect them from a wealthy rancher who seeks to take their land. Unbeknownst to the ranchers, the gunslinger had previously killed the rancher in self-defense. He falls in love with the rancher's widow, but ultimately leaves her due to the guilt of taking her husband's life.
