Riders of the Rio Grande background

Riders of the Rio Grande

When a bank in a small town is robbed, a banker must find a way to keep his institution afloat and his community from financial ruin. Enter the Three Mesquiteers, a trio of rugged cowboys who lend a hand in the pursuit of justice and the recovery of the stolen funds.

In the small town of Oakdale, Mayor Timothy "Pop" Owens faces a crisis when his son Tom helps rob the local bank to pay off his gambling debts. With the bank examiners arriving in two days, Pop decides to make the bank the beneficiary of a trust fund he created for his daughter Janet and Tom, which will cover the stolen money. However, he also hires a hitman to kill him, thinking it's the best solution. Unbeknownst to him, the hitman hires three ruthless outlaws, the Cherokee Brothers, to do the job. Meanwhile, three cowboys, the Mesquiteers, Tucson Smith, Story Brooke, and Lullaby Joslin, arrive in town and get into a fight with the Cherokee Brothers, winning the battle and sending them packing. Believing the Mesquiteers are the ones he hired to kill him, Pop outlines his plan, and the Mesquiteers, seeing an opportunity, agree to help him, while secretly plotting to save him from his own mistake.
