Viire Valdma is a renowned Estonian actress, born on August 29, 1960, with a multifaceted career spanning across stage, television, and film.
Her feature film debut came in 1981, as Reet Pärn in Peeter Simm's drama "Ideaalmaastik", based on Karl Helemäe's novel about a Young Communist League member's dilemma between following village wisdom or Communist party orders.
This was followed by her role as Milla in Kaljo Kiisk's 1983 film "Nipernaadi", an adaptation of August Gailit's influential novel "Toomas Nipernaadi". Valdma's subsequent roles include a small part in Leia Laius's 1989 drama "Varastatud kohtumine", where she portrayed a mother released from a Soviet prison camp, and a role in Mikk Mikiver's drama "Doktor Stockmann" the same year.
In 1990, she appeared as Liivi in Aimée Beekman and Vladimir Beekman's drama "Regina", directed by Kaljo Kiisk. Following her appearance in "Regina", Valdma focused on her stage career, returning to film in 2002 with a small role in Marko Raat's political thriller "Agent Sinikael".
In 2003, she played the role of Imbi in Rando Pettai's comedy "Vanad ja kobedad saavad jalad alla" (English title: "Made in Estonia"),based on the popular Estonian radio-serial and television comedy series. Valdma's subsequent roles include Liina in Andres Maimik and Rain Tolk's 2007 road movie comedy "Jan Uuspõld läheb Tartusse", and Kärt in Rainer Sarnet's drama "Kuhu põgenevad hinged" the same year.
In 2018, she appeared as Imbi, the mother of a young woman who abandons her infant, in Liina Triškina-Vanhatalo's drama "Võta või jäta". Throughout her career, Valdma has also appeared in various film shorts and student films, solidifying her position as a respected Estonian actress.
