Tina Mabry, a talented American film director and screenwriter, hailing from Tupelo, Mississippi, was born on February 9, 1978. Following the release of her debut feature film, Mississippi Damned, in 2009, she garnered recognition as one of the '25 New Faces of Indie Film' by Filmmaker magazine and among the 'Top Forty Under 40' by The Advocate.
Mabry's filmmaking journey began with her short film Brooklyn's Bridge to Jordan, released in 2005. In 2007, she penned the screenplay for the film Itty Bitty Titty Committee, which was later directed by Jamie Babbit and premiered at the 57th Berlin International Film Festival.
Fast forward to 2015, Mabry took on the role of producer, writer, and director on the OWN series Queen Sugar, created by the renowned Ava DuVernay and Oprah Winfrey.
