Terri Garber is a renowned American actress, celebrated for her captivating portrayal of Ashton Main, the alluring Southern Belle vixen, in the critically acclaimed three-part miniseries, North and South, which comprised North & South: Book 1, North & South (1985),North & South: Book 2, Love & War (1986),and North & South: Book 3, Heaven & Hell (1994).
Born in Miami, Florida, Garber was the youngest of three siblings, with a father who was a lawyer and a mother who owned a cooking school. Her early passion for acting led her to begin performing in professional theater at the age of 16 at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami. This marked the beginning of her journey in the entertainment industry.
Garber's professional breakthrough came when she landed a commercial, which earned her membership in the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) and inspired her to relocate to New York to pursue a career in television, film, and theater.
