Singampuli is a multifaceted Tamil film personality, excelling in both acting and direction, with a knack for crafting memorable supporting roles in various films.
Born and raised in the picturesque town of Theni, Periyakulam, Singampuli's early life was marked by a strong educational foundation, as he pursued engineering in Bangalore before venturing into the world of cinema in Chennai. His journey in the film industry began as an assistant director under the guidance of Sundar C, where he contributed to the development of the plot for the film Unnaithedi. Impressed by Singampuli's creativity, Sundar C wrote the script within a week, and the film eventually became a reality with Ajith Kumar on board.
Initially, Ajith Kumar was unenthused about the project, but he eventually agreed to star in the romantic drama. Interestingly, Ajith mentioned that if the film achieved success, he would collaborate with Singampuli on a future project. This marked the beginning of a fruitful professional relationship between the two. Singampuli's next project was the 2002 action film Red, a story about a Madurai-based revolutionary, which received mixed reviews upon release but eventually gained a cult following among Ajith fans.
In 2005, Singampuli made his directorial debut with the kidnap comedy film Maayavi, featuring Suriya and Jyothika, which earned him critical acclaim for his work. His versatility as a director and actor was further showcased when he was cast by Bala in the acting role of a beggar in Naan Kadavul (2009). Since then, Singampuli has appeared in numerous films, solidifying his reputation as a talented and reliable supporting actor in the Tamil film industry.
