Shankar Mahadevan, a renowned Indian singer and composer, is an integral part of the prestigious Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy composing trio, widely recognized for their exceptional work in Indian films.
Born in the vibrant city of Chembur, Mumbai, Mahadevan hails from a Tamil family with roots in Palakkad, Kerala. His early life was marked by a profound passion for music, which led him to learn Hindustani classical and Carnatic music from a tender age. Furthermore, he began playing the veena at the remarkable age of five, demonstrating his innate talent and dedication to the art.
Mahadevan's musical journey was further nurtured under the guidance of the esteemed Pandit Shrinivas Khale, a renowned music teacher.
After completing his formal education, Mahadevan graduated in 1988 with a degree in computer science and software engineering from the Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology in Navi Mumbai, which is affiliated to Mumbai University. Prior to pursuing his passion for music full-time, Mahadevan worked as a software engineer for the prominent technology firm, Leading Edge.
