Sajjad Ali's father, Shafqat Hussain, was a multifaceted individual who had a dual career as a Pakistani film actor and cricketer. His father's first film appearance was in the 1971 movie "Badal Aur Bijli". Sajjad Ali pursued his academic endeavors by completing his F.A degree from the esteemed National Arts College, situated in the vibrant city of Karachi.
As Sajjad Ali's musical journey began, his uncle, Tassaduq Hussain, took it upon himself to impart his knowledge of music to his young nephew. This marked the start of Sajjad's rigorous training, during which he was exposed to a vast array of classical music collections. His training was heavily influenced by the works of renowned classical artists such as Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Barkat Ali Khan, and Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan, who all happened to be Sajjad Ali's grand-uncles.
Furthermore, Sajjad Ali received brief training from his uncle, Ustad Munawar Ali Khan, who hailed from India and was the son of the illustrious Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. This exposure to various musical styles and traditions ultimately led to Sajjad Ali's affiliation with the prestigious Kasur Patiala Gharana of classical musicians.
