Rebekah, a pioneering Neurodivergent Director, has dedicated her career to promoting inclusivity in the film and television industry, championing the rights and representation of creatives, cast, and crew with both visible and invisible disabilities. Her personal journey, marked by struggles to fit in during her formative years, ultimately led her to find solace in creative expression.
Rebekah's directorial debut, the micro-budget feature "Just Charlie," premiered in 2017 to widespread critical acclaim, garnering numerous awards, including The Audience Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival Ecrans Junior Award. The film has since been showcased at festivals worldwide, earning two nominations for the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA).
Her short film, "Her Majesty," has won accolades at Oscar and BAFTA qualifying festivals, while her latest Sci-Fi short, "Bebe AI," has secured victories at numerous Academy and BAFTA qualifying festivals. Rebekah's slate of projects in various stages of development includes co-writing for television the post-apocalyptic female-driven Western "Barren" alongside the supernatural thriller "The Corrective," which received funding from the British Film Institute's early development program, as well as the Sci-Fi thriller "Arcadia," developed in collaboration with Screen Yorkshire.
Rebekah's extensive professional network includes her alma mater, the Edinburgh Talent Lab, BIFA Springboard, Breaking thru the lens Network@LFF, Flex (Screen Yorkshire),and Directors UK, where she serves on the access and inclusion committee. Moreover, she has established herself as a dedicated mentor, working closely with young actors with disabilities to prepare them for careers both in front of and behind the camera.
Rebekah's upcoming projects include her second feature, "Learning To Breathe Under Water," produced by Jack Tarling (Gods Own Country),which was selected for the Berlinale Talents program, where it received a nomination for the VFF talent award. The film has been acquired by Bankside Films and was featured on the 2021 Brit List.
