Peter Cramer is renowned for his innovative, cross-disciplinary multimedia creations that seamlessly integrate experimental film, documentary, and a deeply personal diaristic approach. Through a diverse range of mediums, including photography, film, video, installation, and performance, his artistic practice consistently explores and engages with pressing socio-political issues, as well as the complexities of sexual and gender identity, AIDS activism, and the preservation of archival histories.
As a testament to his dedication to the arts, Cramer, along with his long-time partner and collaborator Jack Waters, co-founded Allied Productions Inc., a non-profit arts organization, in 1981. This dynamic duo went on to serve as the directors of the influential ABC No Rio alternative art collective from 1983 to 1990. Additionally, in 1996, they founded Le Petit Versailles, a community garden in New York City, which has since become a beloved oasis for locals and art enthusiasts alike.
