Otto Guerra Netto is a Brazilian filmmaker, animator, and screenwriter, renowned as one of the pioneers of auteur animation in Brazil. He is the creative force behind Otto Desenhos Animados, a studio that has established itself as a leading animation studio in the country.
Unconventionally, Guerra's creative journey began early in his childhood, where he would often worry his family by spending excessive time drawing. This passion led him to establish his own production company at the tender age of 22. As an adult, he dedicated himself to producing authorial animations that cleverly satirize mass culture and Brazilian conservatism.
Throughout his illustrious career, Guerra has directed a range of notable films, including "Rocky & Hudson" (1994),"Wood & Stock: Sex, Oregano and Rock'n'Roll" (2006),"Until Sbornia Do Us Part" (2014),and "The City of Pirates" (2019).
In 2020, Guerra became a member of the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Notably, he is the only director with four works featured on the list of the 100 most important Brazilian animated films, as recognized by the Brazilian Association of Film Critics (ABRACCINE) in the book "100 Years of Animation Cinema in Brazil".
Furthermore, Guerra is one of the five Brazilians mentioned in the book "Animation Now!", widely regarded as the bible of world animation, published in Germany by Taschen.
Otto Guerra holds a degree in Digital Multimedia Technology from the University of Southern Santa Catarina and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Design Management at the Federal University of Santa Catarina.
