Wang Kai, also professionally known as Nick Wang, is a renowned Chinese actor who has gained widespread recognition for his captivating performances in popular television shows such as "All Quiet in Peking", "Love Me If You Dare", "The Disguiser", and "Nirvana In Fire".
Born in Wuhan, Hubei Province, Wang's early life was marked by a desire to pursue an acting career, particularly after his impressive performance in a school production of "Thunderstorm". However, his father had other plans, encouraging him to focus on sports, while his mother preferred him to secure a stable job. As a result, Wang embarked on a non-acting career path, working as a book porter at Xinhua Bookstore after completing high school.
Despite his day job, Wang remained committed to his passion for acting, utilizing his free time to take on various side projects. He attended activities organized by TV stations, enrolled in model-training courses, and shot commercials. It was during the filming of a commercial in 2002 that the director suggested Wang attend an acting academy. This serendipitous encounter marked a turning point in his life, as Wang decided to leave his job and relocate to Shanghai to pursue his acting dreams.
In 2002, Wang enrolled in the acting program at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and the following year, he applied to both the Beijing Film Academy and the Central Academy of Drama. To his delight, he received offers from both institutions, and after careful consideration, he chose to attend the Central Academy of Drama.
