Monnae Michaell's multifaceted career has traversed various mediums, including television, film, theater, animation, and commercials. Her impressive body of work has garnered her recognition, with a nomination for an NAACP Theatre Award for her portrayal of Tanya in August Wilson's King Hedley III at the Mark Taper, and consideration for an Emmy nomination for her role as Lisa Jefferson in Flight '93.
Among her favorite roles are Annie in American Dreams, Judge Bass in The Defenders, Half George in "the road weeps, the well runs dry", and Citizen 2 in "Citizen: An American Lyric...". Her extensive television credits include appearances in "The Office", "NipTuck", "The Young & The Restless", "The Shield", "The Practice", and numerous other productions.
Monnae's journey in the entertainment industry began at the Lee Strasberg Institute through New York University, where she honed her craft as an actress, singer, and dancer. She started her career in musical theater, performing in various venues and eventually presenting her one-woman show in several NYC clubs, which won a Bistro Award for Best Newcomer.
In addition to her performance work, Monnae has also taught creative improvisational workshops for children aged 6-17.
