Mohammad Reza Aslani, a renowned Iranian filmmaker, was born in Rasht, Iran, in 1943. He pursued his academic interests in Art and painting, graduating from Teheran's Faculty of decorative arts.
Aslani's foray into filmmaking began with a documentary film titled "Hasanlu Cup" in 1967, marking the start of his professional career in the cinematic industry. He continued to work on various projects, including the documentary "Child and exploitation" in 1982, which aimed to raise awareness about the management community.
However, his documentary was informally banned and marginalized in 1982, despite being one of the best documentaries made in Iran during the 1980s.
Aslani's first feature film, "The chess game of the Wind," released in 1976, was a groundbreaking and daring experience in Iranian cinema. It also marked the debut of renowned Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo, who played the role of a servant in the film.
Throughout his career, Aslani has been involved in various television series, including "Samak Ayyar," "light mist," and "logic of the flight." He has also written scripts for several films, such as "line," "switchman," "The Silent City," "bottleneck," "Requiem," "the fourth morning," and "Stone Garden."
Aslani is a prolific writer, having penned three books of poetry: "Bench Nights and Wind Days," "The difference between the two Maghreb," and "Requiem for prohibited years." He has also taught at academies of Sura and cinema and theater, and has written critical essays and comments about cinema.
In addition to his filmmaking and literary pursuits, Aslani has been actively involved in writing critical essays and comments about cinema, solidifying his reputation as a prominent figure in the Iranian cinematic industry.
