Carmelo Chionglo, a Filipino film director and production designer of great renown, left an indelible mark on the cinematic world, having directed an impressive array of over 40 films since 1981.
Prior to his illustrious career, Chionglo embarked on a journey of self-discovery and skill-building from 1966 to 1976, where he honed his acting and directing chops at the prestigious New York Academy of Theatrical Arts.
Upon his return to Manila, he leveraged his newfound expertise to excel as a production designer, crafting visually stunning sets and environments that brought stories to life.
As a testament to his dedication and passion for his craft, Chionglo was one of the founding members of the esteemed Directors' Guild of the Philippines Inc., a prestigious organization that has played a significant role in shaping the country's film industry.
In addition to his creative pursuits, Chionglo also served as a board member on the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, utilizing his expertise to ensure the responsible dissemination of cinematic content to the masses.
