Marina Khan was born in the district of Dera Ismail Khan Tehsil Tank, which was previously part of the North-West Frontier Province (N.W.F.P.) and is now a part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province of Pakistan. Her father, Rehmat Khan, was a Pakistani of Pashtun ethnicity, and her mother, Anna Rehmat, was of English descent but had settled in Pakistan. Marina Khan is also the grandniece of the Nawab of Tank.
Her father's job with the Pakistan Air Force required the family to relocate almost every two years, which meant that Marina Khan did not have the opportunity to form long-term childhood friendships. She made her debut in a PTV drama in honor of Rashid Minhas Shaheed, Pakistan's national hero from the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.
Marina Khan received her breakthrough in the drama serial Tanhaiyaan in 1985, which became a huge hit among Pakistani audiences. She later ventured into directing and production, and also hosted her own cooking show.
Currently, Marina Khan is settled in Karachi and serves as the goodwill representative of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). She has also hosted the show Marina Mornings on ARY Digital and appeared in various films and television dramas.
Some of her notable film appearances include Lala Begum, Punjab Nahi Jaongi, Na Maloom Afraad 2, and Parwaaz Hai Junoon. In television, she has appeared in dramas such as Jackson Heights, Kaif-e-Baharan, Noor-ul-Ain, Qaid, Dil Kiya Karey, and Bandish.
