Lucas Joseph Reiner was born on August 17, 1960, in Los Angeles, California, to a family of artists. His father, Carl Reiner, was a renowned actor, comedian, director, and writer, while his mother, Estelle (née Lebost) Reiner, was a talented visual artist and performer.
Reiner's interest in art was sparked by his mother, who also studied with the celebrated painter Martin Lubner. Between 1978 and 1986, he attended several prestigious institutions, including Parsons School of Design, The New School for Social Research in New York, Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, and Parsons School of Design Paris.
Reiner's artistic journey began in the early 1990s, when he started exhibiting his work in group shows in New York and Los Angeles. His first solo exhibition of paintings took place in 1995 at Bennett Roberts in Los Angeles.
Since then, he has showcased his art individually at various galleries, including Roberts & Tilton and Carl Berg Projects in Los Angeles, Galerie Biedermann and Galerie Peter Bauemler in Germany, and Galeria Traghetto and Claudia Gian Ferrari Arte Contemporanea in Italy. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions at prominent institutions such as L.A. Louver, CSU Luckman Gallery, Edward Cella Art + Architecture, and Bridge Projects.
