Norwegian thespian, born into a family of esteemed musicians, with her father Øivin Fjeldstad being a renowned conductor and violinist. Following her graduation from the prestigious Norwegian National Academy of Theatre in 1963, she embarked on a successful career, commencing her professional journey at Det Norske Teatret shortly thereafter.
Her remarkable talent and dedication soon led to her being hired by the esteemed National Theatre in 1975, where she has since taken on a wide range of iconic roles, including the complex and captivating portrayal of Blanche Dubois in Tennessee Williams's masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire. Additionally, she has also brought to life the character of Agnes in Henrik Ibsen's powerful drama, Brand.
This talented actress's impressive body of work has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the prestigious Amanda award, Norway's main film honor, for her outstanding performance in the 1991 film, Dødsdansen. Her personal life is equally fulfilling, as she shares her life with her partner, the accomplished actor Per Sunderland, and together they have two children.
