As a champion for female representation, both in front of and behind the camera, Ovies is dedicated to promoting engaging and authentic Hispanic stories. Her work has earned her the nickname "female Rodriguez," reflecting her blend of action, gore, and fast-paced camera work, paired with a passion for practical effects that bring her stories to life.
Throughout her career, Ovies has been an ardent advocate for the resurgence of practical effects and on-screen kills. Initially trained in acting, Ovies launched her own film company, I No.Films, in 2011, and went on to write and produce several films, including the multi-award-winning documentary "Taking My Parents to Burning Man." She has also received full scholarships to Women in the Directors Chair and Chicago Second City, where she honed her comedy and writing skills. Furthermore, Ovies is the founder of Rogue Studios, a Vancouver-based studio that encompasses two production companies, an improv school, and an acting studio.
