Leung Ming-kai made his debut as a cinematographer at the prestigious Camerimage film festival, showcasing his work on the film Mundane History. Since then, he has had the opportunity to shoot over two dozen feature films in various parts of the world, solidifying his reputation as a talented and versatile cinematographer.
Throughout his career, Kai has received numerous nominations for his work, including Best Cinematography awards in Thailand, Canada, and Taiwan. His films have also been selected by top-tier festivals around the world, a testament to his ability to craft visually stunning and engaging cinematic experiences.
In addition to his work as a cinematographer, Kai is also a skilled director. His short film Three Boys represented the Philippines at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival and went on to win the top prize at the Hong Kong Independent Film & Video Awards. The film was also screened at several other notable festivals, including Sao Paulo, Austin, and Jecheon.
Kai has also collaborated with other filmmakers, including Kate Reilly, on the omnibus film Memories to Choke On, Drinks to Wash Them Down. The film won both Best Screenplay and Film of Merit at the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards, a testament to the duo's creative partnership and storytelling abilities.
