Kunal's feature film debut as a lead actor was a significant milestone in his career, marked by his appearance in the 2003 film Pop Carn alongside renowned actors like Mohanlal, Simran Bagga, and Vivek. Unfortunately, this initial endeavor failed to make a lasting impact at the box office. However, his subsequent release, Raam (2005),a mystery thriller directed by Ameer, ultimately earned him recognition within the film industry. This breakthrough performance garnered Kunal a nomination at the prestigious Filmfare Awards and the Variety Film Awards, further solidifying his status as a talented young actor. Following Raam, Kunal made a notable appearance in Prabu Solomon's Laadam, and subsequently, he went on to explore the realm of English-language films, featuring in titles such as Within The Mind's Eye and The Reunion.
