Kim DeLonghi, born Kimberly Marlene Backman, was raised in a middle-class family household in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. She spent most of her upbringing in Thornhill, Ontario, just outside Toronto, before attending university in Ottawa to study English Literature. Her mother, Marlene Backman, worked in the banking industry, hailing from Thunder Bay and Winnipeg, while her father, now retired, worked in commercial building and owned his own hardwood flooring company.
Kim met her husband in 1991 and married in 1997. She had always been drawn to acting, but it wasn't until she raised her three children that she could focus on her career. She began performing in small film and commercial productions, including notable roles in The Handmaid's Tale, New Year's Kiss, Beyond the Law, and 10 Double Zero.
Kim's acting career has continued to grow, with recent roles in The Last Son, Castle Falls, Acidman, Maneater, Marlowe, The Flood, and The Banshee, alongside notable actors such as MGK, Sam Worthington, Heather Graham, Thomas Jane, Dolph Lundgren, Scott Adkins, Dianna Agron, Thomas Hayden Church, Nicky Whelan, Liam Neeson, and Antonio Banderas.
In addition to acting, Kim has also had the opportunity to executive produce projects through her production company, K Productions. The company has been gaining strength in the industry, with pre-production projects moving forward in the 2020 and 2022 seasons.
When not acting or producing, Kim enjoys traveling for pleasure and to broaden her knowledge of the industry. She is also passionate about design and architecture, which informs her own property building projects in Canada and the United States. Kim splits her time between Toronto and Los Angeles, where she continues to act and produce in film and television.
