Khaled Youssef, a renowned Egyptian director, hails from a family with a strong political background, as his father was a mayor. Prior to his career in filmmaking, Khaled pursued his education in the electrical engineering division of the faculty of engineering at Banha University, graduating in 1990. During his time at university, he held the esteemed position of Student Union president and also showcased his directorial skills by helming a play titled "Al Moharej", which was penned by the late Syrian writer Mohamed Al Maouz and performed at the Taliaa theater as part of a university students' production.
Khaled's academic journey was further enriched by his interactions with the legendary director Youssef Chahine, whom he met while a student through film screenings and seminars held at the university. This association led to Khaled's participation in Chahine's 1991 documentary film "Cairo Shining With Its People", as well as his contribution to the screenplays of "The Immigrant", "Destiny", and "The Other", and his work as an assistant director on the set of "Alexandria New York". This long history of partnership with Chahine played a significant role in shaping Khaled's career as a director.
In 2001, Khaled ventured into the world of cinematic direction with his debut production, "The Storm", which starred Yousra, Hanan Tourk, and Hani Salama. His subsequent films, "Marriage by Presidential Decree" (2003),"My Soulmate" (2003),"Ouija" (2005),"Justified Infidelity" (2006),"Heena Maysara" (2007),and "This Is Chaos" (2007),solidified his position as a prominent figure in the Egyptian film industry. His collaborations with Chahine continued, as evident in their joint effort on "This Is Chaos" in 2007.
