Kelly Wearstler is an American designer who has made a significant impact in the design industry. Born in the United States, Wearstler attended the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, where she studied architecture and interior and graphic design, earning her bachelor's degree in the latter field.
After completing her education, Wearstler moved to Los Angeles in her mid-twenties with aspirations to work in the film industry as a set decorator. She worked on several sets, including the movies "HouseSitter" and "So I Married an Axe Murderer," before deciding not to pursue a career in film.
Wearstler's experience in the film industry led to an interior design commission from a film producer, and she eventually founded her own design firm, Kelly Wearstler Interior Design (KWID),in the mid-1990s. Her firm primarily served the hotel industry, but she has since expanded her design services to include high-end residential, commercial, retail, and hospitality spaces.
Some of Wearstler's most notable projects include her work on the Viceroy hotel chain in the early 2000s, which had a significant influence on the design industry. She has also designed properties for celebrity clients such as Gwen Stefani, Cameron Diaz, and Stacey Snider.
In addition to her design work, Wearstler has also served as a judge on Bravo's reality show "Top Design" and has released several bestselling books, including "Modern Glamour, and more!" and "Domicilium Decoratus." Her eponymous luxury lifestyle brand features her own designs, as well as pieces she finds at auction houses, and she sells her own furniture, lighting, home accessories, and objets d'art collections.
Wearstler is the first interior designer to be part of the MasterClass Series and the first outside designer to partner with Farrow & Ball. She has won numerous awards, including AD 100 Hall of Fame, Time Magazine's the Design 100, Elle Decor A-List Designers, and Vogue Best Dressed.
Throughout her career, Wearstler has established herself as a prominent figure in the design industry, known for her unique and sophisticated style. Her work has been featured in numerous publications and has influenced a generation of designers.
