Karzan Kardozi, a multifaceted individual, was born in Sulaimani, Kurdistan, and made the life-changing decision to leave with his family in 1999, ultimately settling in Nashville, United States. This pivotal move allowed Karzan to pursue his fervent passion for film directing, a dream that would soon become a reality.
Upon arriving in Nashville, Karzan enrolled at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, where he earned a degree in Film Directing and Cinematography. This esteemed education provided the perfect foundation for his future endeavors.
In 2015, Karzan returned to his homeland, Kurdistan, to create a low-budget documentary film titled "I Want to Live." This poignant project centered around the lives of Kurdish refugees from Syria, a testament to Karzan's commitment to storytelling and his connection to his cultural heritage.
Fast-forward to 2023, Karzan showcased his versatility as a writer, producer, and director with the film noir "Where is Gilgamesh?", a cinematic masterpiece inspired by the Epic of Gilgamesh. Despite the challenges of working with a small budget and a team of only seven crew members, Karzan's vision was brought to life through his unwavering dedication and creative genius.
In addition to his impressive filmography, Karzan is also a prolific writer. He has penned a series of books in Kurdish, titled "100 Years of Cinema, 100 Directors," which chronicles the rich history of cinema. This impressive literary achievement is a testament to Karzan's boundless talent and his ability to excel in multiple artistic mediums.
