One of his most iconic performances was as Edmund Sackbauer, also known as Mundl, in the 1970s, where he embodied the quintessential Viennese character. Another notable success came with the "Bockerer" film series, in which he played a naive Viennese resident during World War II, set in Vienna and its surrounding years until 1945.
