Kamar de los Reyes, a renowned Puerto Rican actor, was born on November 8, 1967, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At the tender age of two, he relocated to Las Vegas, where he spent his childhood surrounded by music.
Kamar's father, a skilled Cuban drummer and percussionist, instilled in him a deep appreciation for the arts. Two of his three sons followed in their father's footsteps, becoming professional musicians - one a world-renowned drummer, the other a world-renowned percussionist. Kamar, the youngest of the trio, began playing the trumpet at the age of four.
As he grew older, Kamar played alongside legendary trumpet greats like Harry James, Doc Severinsen, and Dizzy Gillespie. However, he decided to pursue a different path, putting the trumpet aside in high school to focus on singing and dancing.
Kamar's rediscovery of the arts led him to join a pop/jazz ensemble called Harmony Express, where he honed his skills as a singer and dancer. During his senior year, he made his acting debut in a stage role as El Gallo in The Fantastiks.
Simultaneously, Kamar studied dance at Backstage Dance Studio and performed with small musical combos. His big break came when he landed a dancing role during a trip to Los Angeles to visit his brother Daniel, who was working on the Cher music video We All Sleep Alone.
This opportunity led to collaborations with Kenny Ortega in the feature film Salsa (1998) and the television series Dirty Dancing (1988). Kamar worked with Ortega again in 2001, this time as the lead actor in the VH-1 movie The Way She Moves.
Throughout his illustrious career, Kamar de los Reyes has left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. His dedication to his craft and his passion for the arts have earned him a special place in the hearts of fans and fellow professionals alike.
