Kader Belarbi, a renowned French ballet dancer, choreographer, and director, was born in 1962. He dedicated his entire career to the Paris National Opera Ballet, spanning from 1980 to 2008. Belonging to the company's "Nureyev generation," he was elevated to the prestigious rank of étoile (principal) by the legendary Rudolf Nureyev in 1989.
Since 2012, Belarbi has held the esteemed position of Director of Dance at the Toulouse Capitol Theatre, where he leads the Capitol Ballet. Throughout his illustrious career, he has performed an extensive repertoire, encompassing classical, neoclassical, and contemporary works. He has also premiered numerous pieces for prominent choreographers in Paris and as a guest artist with other companies.
As a choreographer, Belarbi has created approximately forty original works. In recent years, he has focused on revisiting the classical repertoire, successfully bringing productions such as Le Corsaire to France and reimagining Giselle.
However, in February 2023, Belarbi was relieved of his director position at the Capitol Theatre due to managerial deficiencies.
