Josephine Hutchinson was an American actress born on October 12, 1903, in Seattle, Washington. Her mother, Leona Roberts, was an actress who gained recognition for her role as Mrs. Meade in the iconic film Gone with the Wind. Hutchinson began her acting career in Hollywood in 1934, under contract with Warner Bros., with her debut role in Happiness Ahead. She quickly gained attention and was featured on the cover of Film Weekly on August 23, 1935.
Hutchinson continued to appear in various films, including The Story of Louis Pasteur in 1936, where she showcased her versatility as an actress. Her most notable roles include Elsa von Frankenstein in Son of Frankenstein (1939),alongside Basil Rathbone and Boris Karloff, and Mrs. Townsend in North by Northwest (1959),alongside Elizabeth Taylor.
